Becoming a Woman-Owned Small Business 101

March 14 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Free

To help provide a level playing field for women business owners, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting program.

These contracts are for specific industries where WOSBs are underrepresented. The SBA maintains a list of those eligible industries and their NAICS codes.

Joining the WOSB Federal Contracting Program makes a business eligible to compete for federal contracts set aside for the program. Firms can still compete.

BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THIS WORKSHOP/WEBINAR:
• Learn how the U.S. SBA and our Resource Partners can help you and your business advance
• Learn how women-owned companies compete for, and win, federal government contracts
• Hear about the more than $26.2B in contracts that were awarded to WOSBs in 2021
• 5% of the federal government’s prime contracting dollars must be awarded to WOSBs
• Learn how the WOSB, SDB/8(a), HUBZone and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVO) Programs help agencies achieve contracting goals

To be eligible for the WOSB Federal Contracting program, a business must:
o Be a small business
o Be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens
o Have women manage day-to-day operations and also make long-term decisions
