The Maker Lab @ Herndon is a space designed for people who love to learn, discover, and explore. It’s a place where you can learn new skills, work on fun projects, and connect with other makers in your community. At our Maker Lab, you will have access to a variety of tools and equipment, including a 3D printer, sewing machines, robots and more.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers are here to help you bring your ideas to life.

Maker Lab @ Herndon Hours

 Monday-Saturday: 1pm-5pm

Maker Lab @ Herndon Expectations 

  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver while visiting the Maker Lab.
  • Adult supervision is always required for visitors under the age of 12.
  • All tools and technology are available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Most tools are available for independent use by patrons.
  • A staff member is present during operating hours to provide information and answer questions.
  • Only library staff members can operate the 3D printers.
  • Food is not allowed at the Maker Lab, or in the library. Covered drinks are permitted.
  • After using an item, items should be returned to their original location in a clean state.
  • Patrons are responsible for cleaning common use areas, and related equipment, when finished with an activity.
  • Notify a library staff member if an item has missing pieces, broken, or otherwise needs attention.
  • Materials are provided for free, and visitors should strive to use materials as needed and without waste.
  • By using the space, patrons acknowledge the Maker Lab usage guidelines, and other applicable policies.

FCPL’s Code of Conduct and Internet Acceptable Use Agreement apply to the Maker Lab.
