FCPS Career and Technical Education (CTE)
About
Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and programs include:
-
Classroom instruction – the essential component for students to master the academic and technical competencies, attitudes, and work ethic necessary for career success and lifelong learning.
-
Industry Credentials – CTE courses prepare high school students for many industry certification opportunities. Earning an industry credential demonstrates the professional skill level the student has achieved and provides industry-recognized proof that the student is prepared for career-related responsibilities or post-secondary education or training.
-
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) – organizations that provide experiences that reinforce and strengthen classroom learning, and prepare students for individual responsibility, teamwork, and leadership in their chosen career pathways.
-
Work-Based Learning (WBL) – a continuum of career-related experiences for students that extend classroom learning to support the development of career goals in preparation for education and employment beyond high school. WBL provides students with a solid foundation on which to build.
CTE programs are designed to reinforce academic and technical understanding, offer leadership opportunities, and deliver new instruction through hands-on learning environments.
